Psalm 100:5 “For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.”
3 Things I Want You to Know about God’s Goodness:
1. You will be tempted to believe that God is not good.
James 1:16-18
Don’t be deceived: God is the source of good. If its good its God. If its not good its not God.
What about pain we experience, when people hurt us, disaster and virus pandemics?
The pain in this world doesn’t reflect on God’s goodness, it reflects on our brokenness.
2. It is important to believe that God is good.
Hebrews 11:6
Psalm 27:13
If you don’t believe God is good, you will lose heart, you will stop praying, and your theology will suffer.
I can tell what you think about God by how much you pray.
If you are not talking to God you need to ask yourself what you think about Him.
God’s goodness can be objectively observed:
If I told you someone was good, what would you expect to see in their lives?
1. He does good deeds.
Acts 10:38
God is doing good deeds in your life.
If your life is not good yet, God’s not done yet. Good doesn’t mean easy, it means what’s best.
2. He gives good gifts.
Matthew 7:8-11 Our good father gives us good gifts based on His own goodness, not ours.
3. He’s good to everyone.
Matthew 5:43-48
Loving those who love you is logical; loving those who don’t love you is radical.
