How do you interact with a living God? In this message, Pastor Jamie shares keys to a life of walking with your savior.
Every other religion thinks their leader is dead.
Buddha – cremated, remains in China. Temple of the Tooth in Sri Lanka.
Muhammad – buried at the mosque of the prophet in Saudi Arabia.
Confucius – Cemetery of Confucius in China
The Road to Emmaus – Luke 24:13-49
How do we interact with a living God?
- Talk to Him about your hopes.
V21 – “We had hoped he was the Messiah who had come to rescue Israel.”
Jesus is risen OVER all of our doubt, discouragement and disappointment. - Recognize all of scripture is about Jesus.
V27 – Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.
Read your Bible for a relationship with author. Information is good, but transformation is better. - Invite Him into your daily life.
V28-29 “By this time they were nearing Emmaus and the end of their journey. Jesus acted as if he were going on, but they begged him, “Stay the night with us, since it is getting late.” So he went home with them.”
Jesus responds to invitations. God limits His supply to your demand. You can’t kill God but you can kill your relationship with him.
When Jesus is invited as a guest, He ends up becoming the host. - Tell others about Him.
V33 “And within the hour they were on their way back to Jerusalem.”
Don’t just enjoy Jesus for yourself, reveal Jesus to everyone else. - Hang out with His other followers.
V36 And just as they were telling about it, Jesus himself was suddenly standing there among them. “Peace be with you,” he said. 37 But the whole group was startled and frightened, thinking they were seeing a ghost!”
Jesus shows up when His followers get together. - Live your life with Him—now and in eternity.
V49 “And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised.”
God has sent His Spirit to live in you and with you.
Romans 8:11 “The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.”
You can’t kill God—and if this un-killable God lives in you, you will never die either.
