Hopelessness can be rough. Have you been hopeless?
In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares the remedy for hopelessness.
What is Hope?
Hope is the confident expectation that something will happen.
Hope is not wanting something to happen, it’s knowing something will happen.
When someone loses hope in a situation, they take on the identity of defeat in that area: hopelessness.
Things to know about Hope:
- Hope comes from knowing God’s promises. Hebrews 6:13-18, 2 Peter 1:4
- Hope is the proper response to the character of God. Hebrews 10:23 – “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”
You can trust God’s heart even when you can’t see His hand. - Hope defeats disappointment.
Many of us have forgotten how to hope because we’ve been so hurt.
Romans 5:3-5 “And not only this, but [a]we also celebrate in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” - Hope serves an anchor for our soul.
Hebrews 6:19 “This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.”
Are you experiencing the thrill of hope?
