Conversations with God

Do you want to hear from God regularly? Do you know that God wants to speak to you? In this message, Pastor Cynthia Bryan shares the Father’s invitation to dialogue with Him.
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27 ESV
Discipline of Prayer: Obedience to God
“pray without ceasing” 1 Thessalonians 5:17
“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6
Prayer can be a spiritual discipline, a habit that you practice in order to please God and to grow closer to Him.
Praying in the Power of the Word and the Spirit
Pray believing that God will move and that prayer is powerful.
“pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” James 5:16b NLT
“Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me.
He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.” Psalm 103:2-3 NLT
Conversations with God
Prayer is simply communication w/ God
Prayer is not a monologue, not a list of requests, it’s a dialogue between two..
Communication is interactive; it involves speaking and listening.
Friendship with God is the heart of prayer.
Prayer is not a religious chore, it’s a holy privilege.
Your prayer life reveals what you think about God.
The desire to pray overflows from your relationship with the Lord. If you don’t pray, you should ask yourself “What do I believe about the character of God?”
Lack of prayer is a symptom of misunderstanding the character of God.
Do you have faith in God? What do you think about Him? Is He good? Does He listen to you?
It’s All About Relationship
It’s how you are wired. It’s what you are made for. You were created for relationship with God. You were made for friendship with God. Friends talk.
How do you fellowship with Him? How do you cultivate a relationship with God? It’s prayer.
Hearing God
Look: Focus on God; remove distractions
Linger: Have patience; take your time, persist; linger on the phone with the one you love.
Listen: What thoughts come into your mind? Do they line up with scripture. Does it match what you know of God’s heart. Submit perceptions of God’s voice to a mature believer.
His Invitation
“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” – Revelation 3:20 NLT
Do you hear the encouragement, the urging of the Lord to enter into deep friendship with Him?
I invite you to come and sit with me and know My heart. – God
What is God saying to you?
