We often focus on Jesus dying on a cross, but our faith is REALLY about Jesus living and breathing AFTER dying on a cross. In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally, shares how the death of Jesus makes the way for each of us to belong, believe, and become in this life.
John 11:25 “Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.”
1 Corinthians. 15:55 “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
Christians don’t die, we just change locations.
So, what does Easter mean for us?The resurrection lets us belong, believe and become.
John 8:2-12
- Because of the resurrection, you BELONG.
Jesus defended her, He accepted her, then He discipled her.
How you respond to other people’s sin reveals how much like Jesus you are. - Because of the resurrection, you can BELIEVE.
Acts 1:3 “During the forty days after he suffered and died, he appeared to the apostles from time to time, and he proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive. And he talked to them about the Kingdom of God.” - Because of the resurrection, you can BECOME who you were made to be.
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
You are supposed to be
- In Christ.
- Doing good things. Too many people are trying to make a point instead of make a difference.
- According to God’s plan.
Romans 8:11 “The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.”
Final questions:Do you belong? Do you believe? Are you becoming?
