Are you called to be an Ananias? Ananias obeyed the Lord and overcame fear in order to reach someone who didn’t know Jesus. In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares how we can follow the example of Ananias and reach our community with the good news of the love of God.
Acts 9:1-22
Four things we must do to make an impact:
- Obey God.
1 John 5:3 “Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome.” NLT
Loving God is not feeling “in love with God,” but doing what He says. Obedience is the measure of success in the Kingdom.
If you want to know how you are doing with God, ask this: am I obeying.
Obedience is hearing doing. Skip one of those steps and you are now obeying.
- Be Courageous.
1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.” NASB
Once you fully grasp how much God loves you, you can freely love others without fear.
3. Honor others
2 Corinthians 5:16 “So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now!” NLT
It’s hard to look down on others when we’re looking up at Jesus.
4. Move in power.
1 Corinthians 4:20 “For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power.”
Ministry without power is just sympathy.
Mark 16:17-18 “These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages. 18 They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.”
Believers don’t follow signs, signs follow believers.
