The Gifts of the Spirit, Part 4: Do What God Does // Jamie Nunnally

Do you realize that you can do what God does? In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares what the Bible tells us about this topic.

Gifts of the Spirit are special abilities given to Christians by the Holy Spirit that allow them to partake in supernatural ministry. The Holy Spirit gives different gifts to different people. These gifts aren’t for you, but through you – they exist to help others. Spiritual gifts must be fueled and motivated by love or they can be harmful. Not everyone who says they are working on God’s behalf really are, so we test the spirit.

You can divide the gifts into three categories: Know what God knows, say what God says, and do what God does.

1 Cor. 12:8-10

You can do what God does!

John 14:12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.”

Spiritual gifts that help you do what God does:

1. The gift of faith.

The spiritual gift of faith is supernatural confidence in God’s ability to do the impossible in a specificsituation. It is accompanied by action and produces extraordinary results.

Faith is not mental certainty, but trust followed by action.

Acts 3:1-8

2. Gifts of healings.

The spiritual gift of healing is the supernatural power to pray for a sick person see them recover.

Acts 5:15-16 “they even carried out the sick into the streets and laid them on cots and mats, that as Peter came by at least his shadow might fall on some of them. 16 The people also gathered from the townsaround Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those afflicted with unclean spirits, and they were all healed.”

3. Working of miracles.

The spiritual gift of miracles is the supernatural ability to pray and see the extraordinary power of God displayed. (Could be translated “operating in power”)

Acts 19:11-12 “God gave Paul the power to perform unusual miracles. 12 When handkerchiefs or aprons that had merely touched his skin were placed on sick people, they were healed of their diseases, and evil spiritswere expelled.”

How to do what God does:

1. Ask to be filled with (baptized in) the Holy Spirit.

2. Receive prayer from someone who walks in these gifts of the Spirit.

3. Step out in faith when you feel led.
