Stories are powerful. Your past can help someone’s future. In this message, Ryan Davis shares his amazing story of how God revealed Himself and led Ryan into a transformed life.
Ryan’s past includes being bullying, drug use, and anger. It seemed that anger was his family inheritance. Drug use was the way he coped with life. Ryan called himself an atheist. But God knew him and was with him all along.
“Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Psalm 139:16
Ryan felt that he was in charge of his own life and that he could handle things on his own.
Psalm 10:4 “In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.”
One day he went to church at his wife’s request and he experienced the presence of God as he entered the room. Ryan said that when he walked through the doors of the sanctuary here he felt the air get thick. “I felt like I was swimming in a fog… I couldn’t read the lyrics for the tears streaming down my face… It changed my life… I found myself questioning everything I thought I knew.” Then he thought, “I can’t wait to come back next Sunday.”
“ And he arose and same to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.” Luke 15:20
Ryan prayed to make Jesus Lord of his life in church. Later, alone, he told God that he wanted to give God his whole life. The trajectory of his life changed in that moment.
“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
God loves us enough not to leave us where we are.
Ryan says that this revelation tore his heart… “It wasn’t the nails that held Jesus on the cross. It was His love for me. “
