Peter did great things, but do you know the rest of his story?
Peter was imperfect:
He was inconsistent – Matthew 16:13-23
He was overconfident – Luke 22:31-34
He talked too much – Matthew 17:1-8
He was violent – John 18:10
He didn’t understand – John 13:6-9
He tried and failed – Matthew 14:28-31
He denied Jesus – Matthew 26:69-75
He was a hypocrite – Gal. 2:11-16
What changed? How did Peter become a great man of God?
- Peter received forgiveness
Mark 16:7 “Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you before he died.” - Peter answered the call
John 21:15-19 - Peter spent time with Jesus
Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.
Peter’s last words to us:
2 Peter 3:18 “Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
God is not wanting perfection from you, He is wanting connection with you.
