Make Room, Part 1: Vision

Make Room, Part 1: Vision

How’s your vision? What is your vision with the Lord? In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally encourages us to make room in our lives for vision. You’re full of whatever you’ve been feeding on. If you want to be full of something different, you have to make room for it.

Today, Make room for vision.
The vision you and God have jointly established for yourself (or lack of vision) will determine the direction of your life. Your faithfulness to that vision will determine your contentment in
life.

What is vision?
Your vision is a personal mission statement about what you want to do and who you want to be.

Jesus has a personal vision.
Luke 4:16-21

Paul had a personal vision.
Gal 1:14-16 “I was far ahead of my fellow Jews in my zeal for the traditions of my ancestors. But even before I was born, God chose me and called me by his marvelous grace. Then it pleased him to reveal his Son to me[a] so that I would proclaim the Good News about Jesus to the Gentiles.”

Why do you need a personal vision?
1) Gives you purpose.
John 6:38“For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who
sent me.”
Happy people don’t live for themselves, they live beyond themselves.

2) It keeps you on track.
Prov 29:18“Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint” (NLT – run wild)
The vision makes the decision.
Matthew 7:13-14“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

How do I determine a vision for my life?

  1. Selah – Pause and think about it.
    Psalm 4:4
  2. Consider two questions:
    What are your dreams?
    What are your frustrations?
Psalm 37:4“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
  3. Write it down.
Habakkuk 2:2-3 “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. 3 For still the vision waits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.”
“Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run.” Habakkuk 2:3 MSG
