What Time is It?: When in the World Are We?

What Time is It?: When in the World Are We?

What time is it? What season are we in? In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares things you need to know about the time we are living in.

Two Greek words for time:
Chronos – measured by clocks and calendars
Kairos – experienced as a moment or a season

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest… ”

People who understand the time they’re in will walk in wisdom.
1 Chronicles 12:32 “From the tribe of Issachar, there were 200 leaders of the tribe with their relatives. All these men understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take.”

You’ll understand the best course of action to take when you understand the season you’re in.

Jesus criticizes those who don’t understand the time they are in.
Matthew 16:1-4

Understanding the spiritual times and seasons we are in is not only the responsible thing for a Christian to do, it is required thing for a Christian to do.

So, what time is it?

  1. It’s an amazing time to be alive.
This may surprise you, but the world is not getting worse, but better.

  1. It’s the season of grace.
    Romans 3:21-24
We don’t follow the law to be righteous, we trust in and follow Jesus to be righteous. You were a servant but now He’s adopted you as a son.
  2. It’s the last days.
The last days is season of time when we are awaiting the return of Christ. We are in that now and we have been in it ever since the resurrection of Jesus.

There is good news and bad news about the last days:
Bad news:
2 Tim 3:1-5
A powerless church is a pointless church.

Good news:
Acts 2:16-21 “No, what you see was predicted long ago by the prophet Joel: 17 ‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. 18 In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants—men and women alike—and they will prophesy. 19 And I will cause wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below—blood and fire and clouds of smoke. 20 The sun will become dark, and the moon will turn blood red before that great and glorious day of the Lord arrives. 21 But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

In the season we are in, the gap between true believer and non-believer is getting wider.
What is the enemy doing in this season?

  1. Division.
The devil’s oldest trick is to accuse others and try to divide and conquer the body of Christ. When there is unity in the church there will be clarity about who Jesus. When there is division in the church, there will be doubt about who Jesus is. We must demonstrate disagreement without disrespect. Value the person even if you don’t value the opinion.
  2. Distraction.
You can’t do important things when you’re distracted by insignificant things.
    Distraction leads to inaction.
Good things become bad things when they distract us from God things.
Distraction is destructive to your destiny.
  3. Deception.
It says in 2 Cor. 11:4 that “Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” We are dealing with two really big issues: Misinformation (factually incorrect) and disinformation (intentionally incorrect). You defeat deception by having a healthy distrust of what you hear and always testing everything against the word of God.

What is God doing in this season?

  1. Revealing the truth.
God is revealing what has been hidden, bringing public correction to those in authority and exposing injustice done in private.
  2. Redeeming the lost.
People are coming to Christ in droves!
  3. Reviving the church.
Over 250 rededications in our church services this year.

Do you know what time it is?
