Have you ever been disappointed, discouraged or depressed at Christmas? In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares a fresh look at the first Christmas ever, which may have been the worst Christmas ever.
3 keys to avoid having the worst Christmas ever:
- Adjust your expectations
- Embrace God’s perspective
- Repurpose your pain.
- Adjust Your Expectations:
Disappointment occurs when what you hope for isn’t what happens.
When you’re disappointed, asking the question “What was I expecting?” often helps identify why you feel the way you do.
The Pregnancy: how Mary and Joseph adjusted their expectations:
Luke 1:26-35
Mary was confused and disturbed V 29
Mary was afraid. V 30
Mary was uncertain. V 34
Matthew 1:18-25
Joseph was hurt.
Joseph was angry.
Joseph had doubt.
Joseph had to seriously adjust his expectations.
The Response:
And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” Luke 1:38
What does God want to birth in you?
We often say a pregnant woman is “expecting.”
What are you expecting?
Are you expecting what God is expecting?
